Left Out or Left Behind?

Sunshine. Friends. Games. Picnic. It was a perfect summer day for outside fun and a cookout! What a great idea! Everyone was invited.

Except me. But that is nothing new. I was not a popular kid growing up and I haven’t been a popular grown up. Maybe I should say, I have never been a social butterfly. While some of the overlooked invitations sting and sometimes bruise my ego, it is not for long. In the grand scheme of God’s plan for my life, my heart knows those invitations are not important.

What is important:

Rather than be popular in the social circles, it is most important that I tell others about Jesus. Why? Because Jesus said so:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… – Matthew 28:19

It is also most important that I encourage fellow Christians in their walk with Jesus. Why? Because Jesus said so:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom… – Colossians 3:16

I would rather be left out of earthly events than left behind when Jesus returns.

What about YOU?

Are you searching for invitations to the popular social circles here on earth? Or, have you secured your invitation for the ultimate gathering with Jesus when He returns?
