Living for Him

The last line of the beloved hymn “When I survey the Cross” by Isaac Watts, sums up our purpose: “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, My life, my all.”

We are called by God to offer ourselves to Him as living sacrifices – not conforming to worldly desires but to devote all our desires and energies to following and obeying Jesus Christ.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:1-2

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior, the desires of our heart transition from a worldly focus to a godly focus. We now want to follow and obey through our thankfulness of His ultimate sacrifice for our sins. This means we must let go of our self-absorption, all about me attitudes, and selfishness. We must embrace Jesus wholeheartedly through faith and humility, allowing Him to transform us into mild, loving, compassionate Christ-like people who serve our Savior Jesus as well as others.

I am thankful and honored to be a Whosoever! (John 3:16)He died for me and I want to live for Him!

How about you?
